Winterization & Fall Blowout

If you are a new owner of an irrigation system, you might be asking: “what is this and do I need to do this?”

The purpose of winterization is to eliminate water from the irrigation system pipes. If too much water is left in the pipes during the cold winter weather, the water will freeze and expand, bursting your pipes and damaging your nozzles.

So we “blow out” the system with compressed air, shut down the water and prepare the system for winter. Why hire us to do it? Smith Lawn and Irrigation uses a smaller compressor (many of the companies out there use the giant tow-behind units intended for commercial-sized pipes). Many of the repairs we do in spring are a direct result of other companies’ improper winterizing in the fall. Too much PSI, staff without enough training, and a rushed schedule with a quota to fill are all culprits.

Don’t take a chance that will cost you hundreds of dollars in the spring! We are licensed, certified, experienced professionals that you can count on.
